Even Happier Families: the Children’s Garden

Taking inspiration from nature, the landscape, and Native American culture, we’ve created, with play experts the Green Play Project, a magical space where children can engage with the natural world and American culture. This is a place for families of all ages to spend time together.

You don’t need to pre-book to visit the Children’s Garden but we may need to temporarily limit numbers in there from time to time.

Please bring your own hand sanitiser.

Everyone using the Children’s Garden does so at their own risk. All the play equipment has been ROSPA checked and we undertake daily checks of paths, walk ways and the surrounding area.
If you have any feedback or something doesn’t feel quite right please do let us know.

Just to let you know
With all the recent wet weather we’ve had to close a few areas of the Children’s Garden. We’re busy trying to re-open these spaces. Please take extra care.

Even more to explore

The Gardens also await explorers of all ages. From winding paths and colourful flowers to woodland wanders with your four legged friends.

Let our fun A to Zee inspire you to explore the gardens.

Baby-changing facilities are situated in the Gallery Shop. Breast-feeding is welcome throughout.

The Garden Cafe is able to offer takeaway refreshments and you’re more than welcome to bring a picnic. Please remember to take your litter home with you.

Local families can also benefit from becoming Museum Members; family membership entitles you to visit throughout the year, meeting friends for tea in our cafe, exploring the gardens and grounds, taking part in Family Fun activities, and enjoying our magical Christmas displays.

You can keep up to date with Family Fun at the Museum by following us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
