Delayed 2018 opening to American Museum in Britain
We are really sorry but due to unforeseen work, we will be delaying the opening of the Museum this year, and our WW1 exhibition which commemorates the centenary of America’s first military involvement in the Great War, to Thursday 29 March.
This decision has not been taken lightly and, although we are disappointed to delay our opening, the number one priority is the safety of visitors to the American Museum and of course the unique objects and building in our care. We thank you for your understanding and hope to see you on Thursday 29 March. Full statement here.
The American Museum takes you on a journey through the history of America, from its early settlers to the twentieth century. With its remarkable collection of folk and decorative arts, the Museum shows the diverse and complex nature of American traditions. The only museum of Americana outside the United States, it was founded to bring American history and cultures to the people of Britain and Europe.
