For directions to the Museum from your location, please click on the link to Google Maps. Please note Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Satellite Navigation technology do not recognise our postcode, but the turning to the Museum is clearly sign-posted from the A36 and the University of Bath. There is free onsite visitor parking, including spaces for Blue Badge holders. Cars and motorbikes are not charged in Bath’s Clean Air Zone but other vehicle types, including some pick-ups, campers and Land Rovers, may be charged. Coaches cannot access the Museum from the A36. If travelling from this direction, please continue towards Bath and approach from North Road/Bathwick Hill. Groups must book in advance. Please do not use Global Positioning System (GPS) or Satellite Navigation technology to direct coaches as the routes they give will cause you problems. Coach parking is by appointment only.
The nearest train station is Bath Spa which is a short stroll from the U1 and U2 bus stop. When exiting the station towards Bath city centre, the bus stops are across from the station located further to the left on Dorchester Street (opposite Bath Bus Station).
The trip to the Museum takes approximately 15 minutes from the city centre, and costs about £15. Please ask at the Ticket Office if you’d like help ordering a taxi for your onward journey.
Access roads to and from the Museum should be used with caution due to narrow lanes, steep hills, road surfaces, and lighting. Routes from the city centre and A36 also involve steep climbs. Information about cycle routes in and around Bath can be found at www.cyclebath.org.uk/map. We have railings at the front of the Museum you can use to secure your bike.
From Bath City Centre, take First Bus services U1 or U2 to the University of Bath (services run at frequent intervals). Alight at The Avenue, just inside the University entrance. It is then a 15-minute downhill walk to the Museum. Note that the road down to the Museum is narrow and includes a steep hill. The safest way to access the Museum is to use the footpath within the University property adjacent to the road and crossing part of the National Trust’s Bath Skyline Walk. You will reach the Museum’s overflow car park. Enter the gate, walk through the overflow car park and follow the path down to the Museum from there.
