Christmas tree
Open from 30 November
Every year our creative volunteers decorate the Museum for Christmas time, often with a special theme, giving our visitors a lovely festive experience full of stories and beauty. The crafting group meet for several months in the run up to the start of winter, handmaking decorations and sharing their skills. The theme this year is an American road trip, so come along on a journey through the USA with enchanting, unique Christmas decorations!
The centrepiece of our Christmas is the stunning 18-foot fir tree located in central hall, with beautiful stars made out of maps, postcards and tents, and over 9000 twinkling lights. And there are more trees and wreaths to enjoy throughout the historical manor house. Each piece is inspired by a different state, aspect of travel, or the museum collections.
