Work experience

Gardening volunteer

If you are interested in working with history, in business or horticulture we can offer you work experience placements during our open season from March to October.

We have placements for young people aged 14-19 to experience working in the heritage sector. We will show you a series of behind-the-scenes glimpses of our museum as a heritage business and visitor attraction.

Placement with our gardening team will also be available – as long as you have some appropriate footwear!

You may wish to come for one week or for a series of shorter visits. We will aim to give you a range of different experiences dependent upon our season and calendar as well as your interests.

You will work with our staff in business and events, social media and visitor experience, exhibitions and guiding. You will be able to do some personal research and discuss your future career ideas with staff.

Update – Work Experience applications for 2024 are presently closed unless you wish to work with our gardening team. We will be responding to all those that have gained places as soon as possible.

Please apply by contacting [email protected] or by completing the form below.
