Spring Talk – Early Physik, Plagues, Pestilence, and Potions
16 May | 2.30pm
Join Kim Jacobson for a free, fascinating talk about early physik for the first colonists … plagues, pestilence and potions. What did early colonists need to bring with them to treat disease, who practiced medicine and what did they learn when they arrived from the Indigenous peoples?
Kim has a Diploma in the History of Medicine at the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries and was awarded the Osler Prize for the best lecture. Her work was inspired by the extensive research she did on the museum’s precious copy of John Brewster’s 17thc Receipt Book.
