Free Day at the Museum

 

 

Bath Children’s Literature Festival – Free Day

5 October | 10am–5pm

 

In partnership with Bath Children’s Literature Festival, it’s FREE entry to the whole site at the American Museum & Gardens, with storytelling and creative activities by Alice Tait, author and illustrator of No, Nancy, No! A Dog Chase in New York. Your day also includes free entry to the new, child-friendly exhibition, Unforgettable Behaviour, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year show created in partnership with the Natural History Museum.

Other activities on the day include playtime in the gallery, games and colouring, a reading corner, and plenty of space in our gardens and woodland for running and exploring, including a children’s play area. All free on the day!

 

 

No Nancy No! Story Activity Session with Alice Tait

Bath-based author and illustrator, Alice Tait, will be reading her new book No, Nancy, No! A Dog Chase in New York, signing books and leading creative, New York-themed, activities about the story. Come along at 10.30am or 2pm to get involved – book your free tickets today via the button below.

About Unforgettable Behaviour

The Unforgettable Behaviour, Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition has a range of creative family activities and invitations to play:

  • Dress-up and jump inside a hide in the middle of the exhibition to look at the wildlife through binoculars
  • Dig for animal scat and footprints in our fun dig pits, and identify what you discover
  • Create your own animal mask and take some selfies
  • Check how tall you are with our animal height chart
  • Read some animal books
  • Play with the funky puzzles

 

 

Things you need to know

No booking required for entry on the day, but please book the free activity session with Alice Tait.

The Museum’s overflow car park will be open and there is also pay and display parking at the University of Bath’s East Car Park (15-mins walk).

The American Museum & Gardens’ site is open from 10am–5pm, however please note that areas open and close at different times within this:

  • Exhibition, Gardens, Gift Shop, and Car Park: 10am–5pm (last entry 4.30pm)
  • American Garden Deli: 10am–4.30pm (last entry 4pm, last orders at 4.20pm)
  • Museum: 11 am–4pm (last entry 3pm)

The American Garden Deli will be offering a select menu on this day and you are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds.

Dogs on leads are welcome in the Gardens and Deli.
