Each year the American Museum in Britain runs small group tours with special emphasis on visits to private homes and galleries not usually open to the public. This is an exciting way to contribute to the Museum and assure its sustainability. Here are our upcoming tours:
The Balearic Island of Mallorca
Saturday 7 April – Sunday 15 April 2018 (pre-tour to Barcelona, Gerona April 3rd – 8th )
The tour departs the US on April 7th for Palma, Mallorca where our accommodations are in a five star boutique hotel for seven nights, and where Sofia Barroso, President of “Around Art” will guide us and show us the best private homes and gardens, as well as meeting with designers, artists and collectors and touring this special island at the height of its spring flowering.
A four day optional pre-tour starting April 3rd from the US – staying in one of Barcelona’s most distinguished private clubs, with visits to private Foundations, homes and collections as well as public institutions, and a day excursion to Gerona, a little know destination in Spain, and the former home to Salvador Dali and his wife Gala. We will once more be guided by Sofia Barroso, who has created these tours especially for the Museum.
A 5 Day Journey of New York’s Hudson Valley “Through an Anglo-Dutch Lens” With Alan Grey Neumann, President of Historic Hudson
Thursday 10 May – Monday 14 May 2018
Itinerary here: Hudson Valley 2018
Friday 21 September – Monday 24 September 2018
Our good friend, Cindy Halle, will host the weekend and put together some wonderful visits to Museums, gardens, private homes and clubs and perhaps an evening with the Cleveland Orchestra.
A Grand tour of the Classics to Neo- Classicism
Sunday 21 October – Tuesday 30 October 2018
Is the continuation of our Journeys of Discovery with Guest Lecturer PETER LAURITZEN to Amalfi and Naples, after the tourists have long fled. “A Grand tour of the Classics to Neo- Classicism” visits will include Paestum, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and Caserta with stops along the way to visit magical Ravello and Ischia. Our accommodations will feature five star hotels both in Amalfi and Naples, and we hope to be able to include a performance of an opera at the recently restored San Carlo Opera House(depending on schedule), before ending with a farewell dinner in one of the city’s most impressive aristocratic palaces.
