Each year the American Museum in Britain runs small group tours with special emphasis on visits to private homes and galleries not usually open to the public. This is an exciting way to contribute to the Museum and assure its sustainability. Here are our upcoming tours:
April 28 – May 2, 2017
We are indeed fortunate in having Trustee Barbara Bovender, and former Council Member Nan Parrish and friend Cathy Jackson helping us with this very special Insiders’ excursion. We will be staying at the legendary Hermitage Hotel, and visits to institutions and gardens, historic house museums, the Music Hall of Fame and private homes are on the schedule. Needless to say there will be private entertaining as well as opportunities to sample some of Nashville’s wonderful restaurants. Don’t miss this opportunity.
House Party in the Hamptons
June 18 – 23, 2017
The Hedges Inn in East Hampton — a luxury bed and breakfast and Landmark hotel — is ours for our entire stay. Friends and Trustees are on tap for private visits while we explore the Hamptons in depth. Visits will include Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, the Springs, and Sag Harbor. We expect this to be a popular trip and the number of travelers must be limited because of the size of the Inn, so please put your name in early if you want to be assured of a place.
A Journey of Discovery with Peter Lauritzen
Dresden and Berlin
October 4 – 15, 2017
This autumn tour, especially created by our guest lecturer, brings together two of Europe’s most fabulous but less well-known cities. Dresden, as capital of the Elector of Saxony, and Berlin as capital of the Elector of Brandenburg. In the eighteenth-century Holy Roman Empire they amasses artistic treasures largely unsuspected by today’s most well-travelled art lover and we will be there together to explore them with Peter. We begin in Dresden, staying for four nights and visiting all of its treasures, including an excursion to Meissen and Moritzburg, before continuing by road to Berlin for six nights, the balance of our stay. In Berlin we will visit museums, see old world collections as well as contemporary ones, examine the new architecture evident throughout the city, sample the best restaurants and hear wonderful music. A day excursion to Potsdam is planned with special arrangements for our group.
