Uria Brunnichii. Plate CCXLV. (Thick-billed Murre: Uria lomvia) While in Boston, Audubon obtained this adult bird from Eastport, Maine, packed in ice; he described this specimen as being 'fresh and in excellent plumage'. He immediately set about painting it with the help of his son. Sea birds of the murre family, related to auks, razorbills and puffins, also generally known as 'guillimots.' Engraved by Robert Havell (London, 1835)
