Flying Geese Quilt
Description
This well-worn quilt must have been used a great deal during its lifetime.
Full description »This well-worn quilt must have been used a great deal during its lifetime. The fabrics are worn through in places, exposing the wadding between the layers. The colours of the triangle patches that form the Flying Geese blocks have discoloured, partly due to instabilities of the dyes used, and partly due to light exposure. The green patterned fabric that has been used for the sashing and pillow edge of the quilt still retains its bright colour. The stripes in this fabric line up perfectly along the sashing lengths – a testament to the skill of the person who sewed this quilt top together.
