Claridge Lecture: Amber Butchart
May 21, 2020 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
For this year’s annual Claridge Lecture we welcome Fashion Historian Amber Butchard who will be delivering a lecture on fashion, film, shopping, and consumption in the 1930s.
Amber specialises in the historical intersections between dress, politics and culture. She has written books on the perennial influence of nautical dress and the impact of film on fashion, and she is regularly asked to speak at cultural hotspots from the Tate to the V&A.
Amber recently presented A Stitch in Time, a six-part series on BBC Four that fused biography, art and the history of fashion to explore the lives of historical figures through the clothes they wore.
Presented with the kind support of Wendy Claridge.
Ticket includes a drink.
Doors and drinks at 6.30pm
Lecture starts at 7pm
