The Claridge Lecture: Adrian Tinniswood

May 5 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

“An erudite historian of country-house life in all its anecdote-worthy vagaries” Financial Times

Join Adrian Tinniswood OBE FSA, renowned social and architectural historian, for a talk about his new book Noble Ambitions: The Rise and Fall of the Post-War Country House.

As the sun set on the British Empire in the years after the Second World War, the nation’s stately homes were in crisis. Capturing the spirit of the age, Tinniswood proves that the country house is not only an iconic symbol, but a lens through which to understand the shifting fortunes of Britain in an era of monumental social change.
