12 March to 31 October 2011

50 fabulous years; 50 fabulous objects; 50 fabulous stories.

To mark the Museum’s 50th anniversary, 50 treasures from the permanent collection were showcased in an enlightening trail through Claverton Manor.

Objects featured in the trail reflect the breadth of the Museum’s decorative arts collection. They ranged from books, documents, and Renaissance maps to clothes, quilts, coverlets and rugs, paintings, prints, and sculpture.

The trail not only documents American history through time, but also across the continent: from the quintessential New England community as embodied in Grandma Moses’ The Service is Over, past the cowboys of Frederic Remington’s West, and arriving in the secretive world of the New Mexico penitentes.
