Period Rooms

The furniture collections at the American Museum are showcased in Period Room settings to create a sense of how American families lived during the last 300 years. Display rooms include a late seventeenth century Puritan home, an eighteenth century tavern, and a sumptuous New Orleans bedroom from about 1860 – the eve of the Civil War.

*Please be aware that after a leak in the main Museum building in March of this year, we’re currently unable to re-open Conkey’s Tavern, Greek Revival, and the New Orleans Bedroom, because further essential repair and maintenance work needs to be undertaken in these spaces. More information here.
