Book Launch in the Kaffe Fassett Boutique
September 22, 2015 - Jon Ducker
Last week we were delighted to hold a book launch for Heart Space Studios’ new book, Little Ribbon Patchwork and Applique, in the Kaffe Fassett Corner of our Gallery Shop.
Heart Space Studios’ Janet Haigh has worked closely with the Museum for some time, delivering a range of delightful textiles workshops for us. When we heard that Janet was working on a book of projects using Kaffe Fassett ribbons and fabrics it made perfect sense to hold the book launch at the Museum.
Janet got the day off to a flying start with a morning workshop in which she showed participants how to make beautiful beads from scraps of Kaffee Fassett ribbon. This project appears in the book, but you can read more about the process on Janet’s blog. The finished beads are embellished with seed beads and embroidery thread.
Janet put together some gorgeous ribbon with a contrasting selection of Kaffe ribbon pieces, which will be on sale in our shop.
In the afternoon we gathered together Heart Space friends and family, invited guests, and Museum visitors, for a celebration of the book and a book signing. It was a lovely event, and everyone was excited to see the finished book. Pick up a signed copy next time you’re at the Museum!
Rosemary Murphy also blogged about the afternoon— you can read her piece here.
