New Native Art: Diego Romero

April 22, 2016 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Cochiti potter Diego Romero’s ceramic vessels can be found in museums across the world. Working in a narrative style that references pre-contact Mimbres pottery, Pop Art iconography and classic comic books, Romero’s bowls and vessels employ an acerbic humour to explore the marginalized status of Indigenous history and society. Drawing inspiration from Greek pottery and cartoon crusaders, he raises contemporary Indian narratives to the level of the superhero. See Diego’s work at Rainmaker Gallery, Bristol.
